49-key scanning issue

Hello. I'm working on conversion of an old cheesy transistor generator 2x49 organ to HX3.5 based device. I made custom scan boards for each manual with reference to schematics of Scan4014-16: each custom board contains 3 pairs of 4014/4021 ICs, the highest C note (key49) connected to SI pin of the last IC. 48 notes work fine, but the note 49 produces sound of notes 49 to 61(?) pressed together. Scan driver is scansr61.dat. Could not find any options to configure HX3.5 to work with 49 keys specifically.

You need two scan boards each one for each manual.
These scan boards MUST contain components for the maximum of
61 keys / manual even when You only use 49 keys !!!
So Keys from 50 to 61 are only not connected
BUT the IC pins of these key contacts are connected via R network 4k7 to + 5 V !!!
Thats important !!
Specially at last key 49 it is important that there has to be a pullup resistor
4K 7 to + 5 V.
At the other pins of the IUC 4014 there is always a reistor network with 8 x 4k7.

The keys are connected via resistor 10 ohm to the pins of the 4014 IC
These IC pins are connected to the described resistor network 8 x 4k7.

When a keyboard has only 49 key instead of 61 keys the not used key input pins
are connected via resistor network 8 x 4k7 to + 5 Volt
The keys switch to GND.
So when You have there many tone events at key 49 there must be not wanted
vconnection th GND.

Thank you. But how is it possible to make it work with only 3 Scan16-Strip boards per 49-key manual then? All I did is combined 3 separate Scan16-Strip boards in one

For using with 49 key manuals You must chose CORE 3 !!!

Scan61-Inline
Scan61-Inline Board connected to HX3 board

Scan61-Inline works exactly like a Scan16-Strip set of 4 PCB, but has all parts mounted on one compact PCB (one Scan61-Inline needed for each manual). So each key must be wired separately. Please refer to schematics and part placement in out schematics repository. All Scan61 equipped manuals are wired in parallel with one 10-wire flat ribbon cable (multiple connectors attached) to HX3.6 PL12. Bass25 may be used as a third pedal scan board. A jumper on Scan61-inline board determines if keybed is upper, lower or bass pedal:

JP1 = Upper manual
JP2 = Lower manual
JP3 = Pedal notes

Please note: lowest key contact pad on Strip61-Inline is always "C" key. On shorter manuals, leave unused key inputs open. As on OrganScan61 or Scan16-Strip, all contacts must switch to ground. Boards provide ground lugs for connection to busbar.

Scan61-Inline boards are activated by update from SD card or HX3 Manager application. Upload driver scansr61.dat to HX3.6 using Updater window.

Before You do anything changing parameter of FPGA
write down
SERIAL NUMNBER etc of Your HX 3 mainboard
It helps us if You make any mistake when changing parameters

Because You use a DIY Scan board control if there is any mistake when
soldering it .............

Thank you for your help. I took all precautions before experimenting)). So, once again: there are no firmware parameters need to be set to make HX3.5 scan only 49 keys, right?

I think so,
The scan boards are normalö for 61 keys. But if Yopu connect - lokk at the position
between 49 and 61 keys - only 49 keys at the correct pins it must run.

Found it! Indeed high C note can work correctly only if there are no possible notes above it. So I transposed generator by +12 semitones - and viola! Thanks again, happyfreddy
