Half-Moon Leslie switch ??

Beitrag von Snakehips »

Hi there !

What are you guys using for a half-moon switch, to change Leslie motor speeds, for your HX3 modules ?

I'm about to purchase a Mag C2 organ, that uses the HX3 sound engine, and I'm looking for a good half-moon switch, that ideally is not too expensive.

I have a HS CU-1 half-moon switch (ro go with my current clone, HS SK2) but I gather this will not work with the HX3.

Man thanks, in advance, for any advice given.

Cheapest way is using a gitar two way pickup switch with 3 positions : left middle right
This switch has two independent two way switches.
Use one switch for the function slow - fast and the second for the function run - stop
The run- stop switch must be closed either left or right switch position and must be open when in middle position
The fast - slow switch only must be close in fast position
So You can realize with such a gitar switch the leslie function slow - stop - fast

@snakehips:

If you look at the Uhl X3-2 organ (www.uhl-instruments.de), the switch us integrated.

Hi again !

Many thanks for your help, my friends !!

I can't believe no one makes a half-moon Leslie switch specifically for the HX3 module !

For if You want this You can use an old halfmoon.
Just connect a stereo jack at cable - pin and GND to halfmoon cable and shorten the ring to GND.
If using a mono jack perhaps the " ring - contact " doesn´t be connected proper to GND.
There are differences between Jack and Jack as well known in practise.
So it´s better to use a stereo jack
In this case connecting old Halfmoon " Fast - Slow " You don´t have to stop function .

Hi again !

I got this directly from Max, at Mag Custom organs :

The way to control the HX3 leslie speeds is very simple through a TRS jack :

No connection between T, R and S = STOP
T and R connected = SLOW
T, R and S connected = FAST

Is that the same comfiguration as your diagram, happyfreddy ?

Many thanks in advance. I should be receiving my Mag C2 organ next week, and I want to have my Leslie switch ready.
I have ordered a small ABS plastic box, just big enough to house a guitar 3-way switch (Fender Telecaster type) and I already have spare stereo jack-jack cables that I shall cut up - one end has a right-angled jack plug on it. I shall cut the cable just long enough to reach the organ's Leslie footswitch output jack socket.

There is a mistake in Mag explanation !

Mag says :
No connection between T, R and S = STOP OKAY

This :
T and R connected = SLOW
will not run !! MISTAKE

T, R and S connected = FAST OKAY

In my schematic GND is equal to Mag definition SLEEVE

The Pin RING must be connected to GND resp Sleeve either in Slow or Fast mode
No connection of RING to GND / Sleeve is the function STOP
This also will happen when the TIP is connected to GND resp Sleeve or not

The TIP controls only the Fast or Slow mode and that will only happen when the RING is connected to GND / Sleeve too

Hi again, thanks for your help !

Can I just check, does your diagram show two different type of switches ?
(A Gibson Les Paul type pickup selector switch, and a Fender Telecaster type pickup selector switch ???)

If I have purchased a Fender Telecaster type 3-way switch, with 6 solder points, like your diagram, I should do this ?
(Are the 6 solder points/poles numbered the same for both switch types, and I can just solder by numbers ???) ie.

1. Connect pole 4 & 6 together with a short piece of wire
2. Connect the TIP wire to pole 2
3. Connect the RING wire to pole 5
4. Connect the SLEEVE wire to poles 1 and 6 (or alternatively to pole 1, and connect another short wire between poles 1 & 6)

Or am I not understanding the diagram very well ???

And from Max's way of explaining things (correctly this time though !), can I just clarify how to get SLOW, please :

Is it : TIP and SLEEVE connected together (and RING not connected ???)

Many thanks for your help again !!!

HI
I use the Telecaster switch

This switch has two separate switches inside.
The connecting poles are beneth so You see 6 pins in a line
Each 3 pins are one switch.
Use a Resistance Meter to find out which pins are connected in each switch position.
You must find out the middle pin of each switch
The Telecaster is cheap and if some problems easy to change.
