HX3.5 Firmware 5.507 BETA [update 3]

Beitrag von bovist »

Englisch instructions: See [english] section below.

Update Instructions #5.x to #5.507

IMPORTANT: This BETA version intended for experienced users. Do not try on an instrument needed for your gig tomorrow!

Please find it here:

http://keyboardpartner.remotewebaccess. ... 20Firmware

See changelog for latest changes. HX3.5 Editor #5.506 supports automatic "one Click" updates. Open HX3.5 Editor's Update/Finalize Panel and click "Full Update". Takes about 20 Minutes via USB MIDI connection.

All presets from versions below #5.5 will be overwritten. Backup not neccessary (cannot be used anyway). Please note operating instructions for new HX3.5 Editor (PDF). This is a comprehensive update, so follow instructions carefully.

Notes on version pre 5.503:

Sorry, there was a serious bug in HX3.5 Editor's SysEx file transfer function, introduced in version 5.501. FPGA image was corrupted on MIDI transfer. Please upload FPGA file hx3_main.bin manually with new HX3.5 Editor #5.506, as the corrupted FPGA may show valid serials and date (which prevents automatic update), but does not work or makes strange noise. ALWAYS USE NEWEST EDITOR SUPPLIED in ZIP!

Use FTDI cable or SD card update if USB MIDI refuses to work. In this case, jumper CONFDIS on mainboard should be set during update to prevent lunatic FPGA disturbing uploads. Remove jumper when FPGA upload succeeded and power cycle.

Re: HX3.5 Firmware 5.502 BETA

Beitrag von clp560 »

Hi Carsten,

I tried updating to the new Beta 5.502 but had a big problem. It all seemed to work except for the sound! All I get, either from the real keyboard or the editor keyboard, is a very low indistinct bass sound whose pitch doesn't vary. The editor sees the incoming midi ok - when I press switches or move drawbars they move in the editor. My setup is:

Midi control from XK3

FW is 5.412
HX3 Mk5 True Organ (a recent upgrade to my Plexi module)
FPGA 09072018

I followed your instructions very carefully and tried it a couple of times always with a direct usb input from my computer to the Plexi. The same result each time - controls operating but only a strange low sound from the output. Any help you can suggest?

I've successfully reinstalled FW 5.412 and previous settings so no gig panic for the moment!

Thanks,

Paul

Hi,

I had the same problem at the first try when updating via usb midi aswell over my midi interface.
(But I must honestly say, that I have a first gen HX3.5 and have the unnecessary resistors R11 and R17 still in place  )
Worked great via SD Card, saved my rehearsal
BUT the internal amp and rotary sim doesn't seem to work, and I can't find a way to chose the organ model or waveform via the MenuPanel.
Otherwise, I love the submenus! :P

.UPDATE FIRMWARE IF < 5.503

I did everything suggested here but without success, I'm afraid. In fact now I have a bigger problem as the HX3 midi connection is not recognised at all by the editor (still, 5.502 from the download page, no version 5.503 showing).

I had successfully reverted to 5.412 a couple of times without issue, then tried to update again. This time when connecting the HX3 is shown as a choice in the dialogue box but on clicking 'OK' the log shows '#midi connection opened' but nothing connects. On the HX3 itself I'm seeing SD FILE EXEC <EMPTY> but I am not using an SD card update method as I have no SD Card connection accessory.

I also tried to use my old FTDI board (the blue one) and I think I connected it correctly as the editor sees it and allows me to select it (I'm on Windows 10, latest update) but again, no connection to the HX3 results, just '#midi connection opened' but the 'Connect' button stays available and the 'Busy' indicator is black.

Also with the FTDI board connected (and the jumper in place) I get Error:Sync Failed, and Error:No response from HX3.5

Help! What have I done wrong? Thanks,

Paul

Update to 5.505 using a SD card or FTDI cable should solve the problem. Communication is always possible with FTDI cable, also Update with SD card adaptor, even when MIDI should fail.

Download HX35_Editor_55.ZIP with today's release from

http://keyboardpartner.remotewebaccess. ... 20Firmware

After unzip, copy all files inside "updates" folder to SD card. Update HX35 with SD card.

With HX3.5 Editor, check if DSP version is 01.17, otherwise update DSP. Finalize HX35. Click OK/Yes when it wants to overwrite presets.

If old Firmware was 5.503 (which had a serious bug reading the FPGA configuration file - you had been warned!), repeat SD card update (rename _autorun.ini on SD card to autorun_ini to re-enable it). Hope this helps.

I ordered an SD card reader from you at the weekend so I'll have to wait for that to arrive to try the update again.

I have the old blue FDTI board from my previous HX3 but although the board seems to be recognised it shows 'sync failed' and 'no response from HX3.5' when connecting. The board only has 4 cables attached so maybe I'm connecting it wrongly but the only one in doubt is the '5v'. Gnd/RX/TX are clearly marked. It didn't help to jump the confdis.

Hopefully the SD card reader will solve the issues - fingers crossed.

Thanks

I've managed to update to the latest version (5.508) and everything is back to normal! The pedal drawbars also work correctly with the XK3. The first update (5.507) seemed to give some problems with the Preset control from the XK3 but v5.508 firmware from yesterday seems to have fixed it.

I didn't have time to try the latest Leslie improvements but hopefully over the weekend. Updating via USB is also working ok again.
