Hammond xb-2 + xk-1

Hi to my german friends, I am near Bordeaux, France.
So.
I play now a xk-1 as upper, and a voiceless xb-2 as a midi controller for the lower part of the xk-1.
My settings permit to use both drawbars sets and both keyboards, as a classical use.
As a matter of fact, for technical reasons, the xb-2 acts as upper, and xk-1 as lower.
No problem for me.
The sound goes then to a Organ Grinder crunch pedal.
Afterwards a dbx 131 EQ equalizes and pushes up the volume. The final stage is a Leslie 760.

So my question is : how can I get a HX/Hoax sound with this set ?
I mean, using on stage both keybs (upper & lower) and drawbars (upper & lower) ?

hallo bonjour,
To change upper and lower perhaps only wrong MIDI CHANEL programmed
The HX3 works on upper at channel 1
lower channel 2 and pedal channel 3 , just MIDI Standard.
To drive the HX 3 You had only to make two connections : MIDI and Audio
MIDI OUT from Your keys must be merged to MIDI IN of HX 3 expander
For You want to have separated sounds with Your Keyboards it´s better to use
the ORGAN HX 3 Expander with integrated separate drawbars.
This Organ expander has two MIDI IN so You can plug each keyboard directly.
They will be merged inside the Organ Expander.
Then You have separate drawbar sets , separate presets , separate Leslie Simulation and Reverb to.
For connecting to Your equipment You only need two Input Jacks free in equipment for Audio Output R + L .
By the way the Organ Expander has a 11 pol Leslie jack so a real leslie can be driven directly.

Things which don´t work is to use the HX3 Expander // Organ Expander as audio input for Your equipment.
There is no send or return jack implemented

OK, I understand that your answer is :
I need a HX3+drawbars expander to dynamically set upper and lower HX drawbars while my two midi keyboards are connected to both midi inputs.
Question A : is that correct ?

If I get a single HX3 standard expander without drawbars, I will have to externally merge my two keyboards midi signals.
Question B : with this one, and Hammond XK settings, my xk-1 drawbars will act as HX3 upper drawbars correct ?

If I get a new retrofit xb-2 kit, and I keep my xk-1 unchanged :
Question C : On xb-2, can I alternatively play upper and lower sounds with xb-2 keyboard ?
Question D : will it be able to accept an external xk-1 midi signal for the Hoax lower play, while upper sound is simultaneously internally played by xb-2 keyboard ?

Anwers to Your questions:
Case A : Correct

Case B : You have different keyboards. You have to checkup if the MIDI CC Sets of Your keyboards are same matter
The Expander must be configurated to understand the XK CC controls. Maybe that the CC Sets sended are not equal.
In this case You will have perhaps a problem because You only can chose one CC Set for use in expander

Case C and D : XB2 kit is a special version of HX 3 to update old XB2 keyboards. In this case the HX 3 is " buildt in " the XB2.
If it is possible to use it same way with XK1 keys please ask Carsten directly via email. You will reach him next week because
he is at moment busy on a fair

I would not have to get another device to connect and stack up... no headroom left !

I explain more precisely :

If I get a new retrofit xb-2 kit, and I simultaneously keep my xk-1 unchanged :
Question C : On xb-2, can I alternatively play upper and lower sounds with xb-2 keyboard, using the SOLO button for example ?
Question D : will the retrofit kit inside my xb-2 be able to accept an external xk-1 midi signal for the lower play, while upper sound will be simultaneously and internally played by xb-2 keyboard ?

HI,
XB2 kit is very special and I never buildt up such modified keyboard, only Carsten did it.
So i can´t tell You what is possible and what not.
Just wait till he returnes from job in foreign country . I will inform him about Your plans.

Freddy, please note that I am interested in a xb-2 kit without Leslie licence, if it can make a discount...
A Leslie 760 9-pin connector instead of the embedded xb-2 11-pin connector could be a great thing, too, if the audio signal is a 5 Vrms, as expected by Leslies.
