Hi lordy,
here are only 162 members in this forum an we all fight with our little problems with HX3. I´m waiting fo some answers too.
1 hour / day I have to ponder on my own HX3 brain-blockades.
The most, what I have (or want) to reed about HX3, I find only in English - not good for me. ;) It´s sooo difficult to understand it.
A other problem is (for me) to write a opinion in English. In East-Germany we could not learn so much English.
BUT THE HX3-SOUND IS G R E A T !!!
sincere Yours
Göpli

(I need 30 minutes to write this  )

Thanks lot Marco !

Ich bin ziemlich enttäuscht von der mangelnden Interesse der Eigentümer der HX3, in einer HX3 Forum, um diejenigen, die nicht versuchen, kann es helfen, und dazu beitragen, dass eine Stellungnahme.
Dank viel Marco!

you're welcome!
the only problem for me is when all is written in German language, so I'm not able to understand and I have no time for open the google translator, ecc. ecc.
:D

in these cases (German language) I simply skip the message

I'm pretty disappointed with the lack of interest of the owners of hx3, in a hx3's forum, to help those who can not try it, and help make an opinion.

Hallo Uwe,

Marco, thanks a LOT for taking the time to record and making these documents. It's the purpose of these forum no, share, etc.
Your recording answer the questions i had about the tone generator of the hx3, great to have changed the different leakage type.

Thanks for your generosity,

Lordy

ciao,

here an example with C major (and other :D ).
HX3 with internal leslie simulation.
line out to recorder, no eq, no compression, no effects.

overdrive specification:
--> HX3 HAS NO overdrive
--> HX3 HAS NO volume

it works exactly as a vintage hammond organ into a vintage tube 122 leslie.
real hammond has NO overdrive. it produces a warm, fat, NOT DISTORTED sound.

you can increase the leslie 122 power amp level (that's what I'm doing here and there in this video) and you can ear the "natural" tube saturation of leslie.

so it is difficult to define the sound "without overdrive".
with the 122 power AMP at a low level you have a cleaner "slim" sound, if you increase the volume of the AMP you have a bigger "fat" sound + saturation (mainly coming from horn driver).
leakage, chorus, percussion and keyclick too, sound different if you work with 122 AMP at low level or at high level.

no general volume, so you can not turn up the volume with a "clean" sound (as with the vintage hammond + leslie).
if you increase the leslie power AMP you increase volume AND all other saturation effect (as with the vintage hammond + leslie).

i'm not sure this thing (no volume) is good or not, but it is philological

Thanks a lot Marco. It's interesting what you wrote, u're my man, and if you have 10 minutes to loose, could you record a beautiful C major without bass, without overdrive, with maximum of leakage settings in this HX3, just simple. Would be great

I'll try, just have a little patience :D

OK, I know it is difficult to test it, as there is no distribution in shops, ecc.

I played/owned several digital clonewheels during these last 10 years:

- KORG CX3
- SUZUKI XB2 / XK2 / XK3 / SK2
- CLAVIA NORD C2
- KEYB DUO
- HAMICHORD / MOJO
- HX3

Concerning these “last generation” clonewheels it has to be clear that:

- NO ONE of them sounds 100% like my 1964 Hammond C3 + tube leslie

- Each of them has some good (or really good) details similar to the original vintage organ + leslie (one has a really good leslie simulation, another has realistic chorus, one has a very good simulation of leslie tube saturation, one has a better presence on higher octaves, ecc.)

- The “definitive” clonewheels does not exist and probably will never exist :D .
Just to make an example (but anything should be in a different mix, this is just an example): chorus and leakage from KeyBduo, percussion and tube saturation from HX3, keyclick and tone generator from Hamichord/Mojo, leslie simulation from BURN, ecc.

HX3 and Mojo are both great “machines”, each with different great features.
Unfortunately we are not “neighbors”: I would invite you at home, for a coffe and a side by side comparison between some of these great instruments
